Welcome to the online application form for the DIOCESAN YOUTH RETREAT LEADERS IN TRAINING (AGES 18-20).

DYR 2013: June 8-12, 2013

LIT’s are part of the retreat staff and are integral to the success of the program.  They assist in the implementation and facilitation of DYR events and activities, and help with all aspects of the retreat, including small group facilitation, liturgy, tech and programming.

LITs must be at least one year out of high school and not yet 21 years of age (if you will be over 21 in June 2013, please inquire about our adult staff opportunities).

In addition to helping with small group facilitation, Liturgy, tech and programming, LITs are expected to:

    Be a solid Christian example to the youth in words and deeds.
    Small Group Facilitation
    Be of service to the participants and to the planning team.
    Be present at and assist with events and activities.
    Assist in the set-up and break-down of environment and other equipment for various activities.
    Be open to ministry methods evaluation from the Director.
    Enforce and model the code of conduct.
    Meet with the LIT leader throughout the retreat as scheduled.
    Perform other tasks assigned and requested during DYR.


    Recommendation Form (due on April 1)

The deadline for the online application is April 1, 2013. Once accepted, all LITs are expected to meet the following requirements by May 13th:

    Filled out Medical and Expectaion Form
    Full Payment of $275 (checks should be written out to the DIocese of San Jose)
    Shield the Vulnerable Class
    Fingerprinting Clearance
    All LIT's are required to attend the following LIT Training and Team-building days

                       1. For 1st time LITs: May 25, 2013, 9:00am to 12:00pm at St. Lucy
                       2. ALL LITs: June 1, 2013, 9:00am to 12:00pm at Queen of Apostles
                       Applicants who can't make the training day will NOT be accpeted as an LIT for DYR 2013.

The Diocese of San Jose maintains the policy of fingerprinting and training all staff and volunteers who work with youth or vulnerable adults.  Please contact your youth minister for the proper procedures and protocol.  If you have already been fingerprinted with the Diocese of San Jose, you will not need to be fingerprinted a second time.  You will not be able to attend the DYR unless your fingerprints have cleared and you have completed the Shield the Vulnerable training by May 13, 2013, so we recommend that you take care of these requirements as soon as possible.

All Staff and LITs must be fingerprinted through the Diocese of San Jose and must take the Shield the Vulnerable online class prior to the retreat.

***Note:  We understand that many applicants may be attending college out of the area. In order to best accomodate applicants, LIT Training and Team-building Days have been scheduled according to the college calendars. Please plan breaks accordingly.

This form does not guarantee acceptance as an LIT. All applications will be reviewed and you will be notified by April 15 of the status of your application.
